Hot Hot Hot :)

I was requested by our friend Deanna to post a picture showing just how hot it is... Well, it's really hard to show how hot it is in picture form... and especially since I haven't really been "out and about" outside in a couple of weeks... I didn't really have any pictures that really could convey the heat...
BUT there was a great picture in the paper the other day that I thought might just do the job!
The guys in the pic below are guys that sell fruit... and in order to beat the heat, they put watermellons on their heads :) It thought that was pretty funny :)
It's so hot that when you're riding around in public transportation, it feels like a hair dryer is blowing in your face! It's pretty crazy! It's been over 110 most days, but thankfully (because of the unseasonable rains) it's been in the lower 100's lately :)

I have been on bed rest, so I've been watching a bit more TV than normal... I was watching "Cheers" the other day (yes, it still comes on here... everyday :) In one particular episode, they were outside and talking about how hot it was going to be the next day... Frasier said it was going to reach 120 degrees and then Cliff Clavin (in his usual know-it-all mannor) said: "Forget it! Once it hits 110 degrees outside - your lungs will explode - and we'll all die"...
Well, I'm here to tell you that at 110 - your lungs will NOT explode - in case you were wondering :)

Mark Twain had a quote that I thought was really funny - talking about our country... he said:
In [South Asia], "cold weather" is merely a conventional phrase and has come into use through the necessity of having some way to distinguish between weather which will melt a brass door-knob and weather which will only make it mushy.

haha! Thought you might enjoy :)

HAHA! The picture took a minute to download and at first the only part was the tip of the watermelon. I had no clue what the rest was going to be, but definitely not guys with melon hats! Hilarious. I think our daily highs are around 90...really hot MAY get to 100 every now and then...just weird since we're 2 degrees above the equator.

That is hilarious! I just love that picture! Oh we saw that Cheers episode this week too and both of us laughed when Cliff said that as well!

Danke! That photo is AWESOME!!! I was in your part of the world in '95 in late June and as soon as I got off the plane, it was so hot, I thought I must be in jet wash. I was sure there was no possible way it could be that hot. Boy, was I wrong! Maybe this winter I'll have to do a photo blog entry of how cold it gets here. Thanks for answering the request!

I think I would wear a watermelon hat too if it was 110!

Campa Cola & Exploring :)

Today we had some things to do in the Central part of our city, so while we were there, we decided to take on some adventures :) Adventure #1 - the underground market. This market is pretty crazy. It's actually underground and has electronics & clothes mostly. They sell things pretty cheap, so it's an interesting place to go. Today we got an 64 Gig flash drive/pen drive for about $5. Crazy hunh? Here's Adam and Aashini in one of the stores. They're all REALLY small stores - about 10x10 feet I would guess (but I'm really bad at guessing that sort of stuff :)) We go here a lot to get things, so I guess it's not a new adventure, but an adventure nonetheless. Before the next part of our adventure (the real part of our adventure) we stopped for lunch. Aashini will always eat at McDonalds, so that's where we went :) They just started selling chicken nuggets here at McDonalds, so it's super easy to get her to eat there :) This McDonald's had high chair

Starbucks!

Starbucks opened in our city last night!!  I'm not a huge coffee drinker... but I was excited about the opening!!  (I think I like Starbucks because of all the green! haha!... Aashini and Diya think the mermaid on the logo looks like me... haha! Maybe it's the weird wavy hair :)... not sure :) ) Anyway, we got there and the line was SUPER long!  The wait time was about 45 minutes!!!  There were so many people there!!!  I tried to get a pic of all the people... (that's why this picture is at an annoying angle... I was trying to get it all in in between the columns :))    Here's Aashini doing a jumping picture!!  The girls tried to do a jumping picture :) haha!  haha!  They had a few spills along the way :)  I never got them both jumping :)  Stuff for sale....  OK, one more because I think they are cute :) haha!  People waiting in line :) Some friends that made it inside! :)  We decided not to wait in line... So we'll
