FoOd, FOoD, fOoD...

OK, so food is a very important part of the culture here. For a lot of women, that's their pride and joy (besides their kids)... they are VERY proud of their food and their cooking... OK, so couple that, with the AMAZING Hospitality that is here in this country... they have a saying here that says: "Guest is god"... That doesn't mean that you are thought of as a god when you are at their house, but it does mean, they treat you very well...

SO, almost needless to say, when you go to eat at someone's house... they want you to EAT! When we went to M-town a couple of weeks ago, I was really worried about the eating thing... don't get me wrong, I LOVE the food... BUT I am also pregnant... so my stomach holds about half of what it normally does... and if I eat too much it HURTS! So in M-town (and in most of our country) - they don't take "no" for an answer when you say you don't want seconds (or thirds or...) ...
So usually they say: "Have some more" and I say: "no thank you, the food was very good and I am very full"... and as I'm saying this, they pour in another serving... and this usually happens at least a couple of times until you can't move anymore.... (I have learned that you can put your hand over your bowl/plate when saying you don't want anymore... and sometimes that works... but not always)

ANYWAY, I was a little worried, because since being pregnant, I usually just eat a bunch of little meals in a day... and haven't been able to eat that much at one time...

When we got there, I was treated like a princess!! They love babies and pregnant women! Every house and family we visited made me lay down on their bed (which is usually in the living room with the couch/chairs) and they would bring me fresh cut-up fruit! It was awesome! When meal time came, I was still worried, but when I said: "no thank you, the food was very good and I am very full" - THEY SAID "OK" - they didn't give me anymore servings! It was crazy! Being pregnant in this country can be pretty cool! :)

Haha! That's so great...when we were out in people's homes last week I had the same worries (can't eat that much, love the food just not tons of it)...I thought and hoped the pregger thing would keep me safe, but it didn't! You're so lucky:) When I couldn't eat the whole platefull of rice (for the 15th meal in a row) and they asked "Do you want more rice?" and I said "No, thank you, I just can't eat a lot because I'm pregnant" (said that for the 15th time as well) they didn't respond with anything but, "Are you sure you don't want more rice?" ...I'd have given anything for some fruit and "I understand...you just eat what you can..." !!! HAHA! I'm coming to stay with you guys...;)

If we can just find a way to always be pregnant when we go to people's homes, we could save ourselves a lot of hassle. :)

Wow some people in the States need to take notes on the couch/fruit thing! Sounds fabulous.

Okay, this is so unfair. My experience was totally different. It seems that people expected me to eat more because I was pregnant. And if that wasn't enough, they brought out all these weird things to drink and eat because "it's good for the baby". Some things were impossible to choke down! YUCK!!!

Hey, how about a blog with photos of the most "interesting" food you've seen or eaten?

Campa Cola & Exploring :)

Today we had some things to do in the Central part of our city, so while we were there, we decided to take on some adventures :) Adventure #1 - the underground market. This market is pretty crazy. It's actually underground and has electronics & clothes mostly. They sell things pretty cheap, so it's an interesting place to go. Today we got an 64 Gig flash drive/pen drive for about $5. Crazy hunh? Here's Adam and Aashini in one of the stores. They're all REALLY small stores - about 10x10 feet I would guess (but I'm really bad at guessing that sort of stuff :)) We go here a lot to get things, so I guess it's not a new adventure, but an adventure nonetheless. Before the next part of our adventure (the real part of our adventure) we stopped for lunch. Aashini will always eat at McDonalds, so that's where we went :) They just started selling chicken nuggets here at McDonalds, so it's super easy to get her to eat there :) This McDonald's had high chair

Starbucks!

Starbucks opened in our city last night!!  I'm not a huge coffee drinker... but I was excited about the opening!!  (I think I like Starbucks because of all the green! haha!... Aashini and Diya think the mermaid on the logo looks like me... haha! Maybe it's the weird wavy hair :)... not sure :) ) Anyway, we got there and the line was SUPER long!  The wait time was about 45 minutes!!!  There were so many people there!!!  I tried to get a pic of all the people... (that's why this picture is at an annoying angle... I was trying to get it all in in between the columns :))    Here's Aashini doing a jumping picture!!  The girls tried to do a jumping picture :) haha!  haha!  They had a few spills along the way :)  I never got them both jumping :)  Stuff for sale....  OK, one more because I think they are cute :) haha!  People waiting in line :) Some friends that made it inside! :)  We decided not to wait in line... So we'll
