McDonald's!!!

So I've had some questions about McDonald's here in South Asia and what it's like :) McDonald's is really cool in the ways they adapt to the countries or cultures that they're in. In Hawaii they sell SPAM, rice & eggs as a part of their breakfast menu. In Thailand they have a Samurai Pork Burger. In South Asia we have our own special menu items too... ACTUALLY the entire menu is pretty much different than in the US. Why?? They don't serve beef here in our country at McDonald's. Here's a look at our menu...There are actually more vegetarian menu items than there are meat items. The green circles to the left of the item means it's a Veg (or vegetarian) item. The red circles mean it's "non-veg" or meat. Vegetarianism is very important to many people here in this country, so they take it very seriously at McDonald's (as well as many other restrauants that sell both veg & non-veg items). Vegetarian and meat dishes are prepared in separate areas of the restaurant in respect for vegetarians, and cooks preparing vegetarian dishes wear distinctive green aprons. Here's a close-up of the list of some of the menu items. In case you're wondering what's in some of those menu items...
- The McVeggie sandwich starts with the oh-so-familiar sesame seed bun. In between the bread, you'll find a vegetarian patty that is made from peas, carrots, green beans, red bell pepper, potatoes, onions, rice, and seasoning. This vegetarian burger is garnished with lettuce, and has mayonnaise made without eggs spread thickly on the bread.
The Aloo Tikki is a Potato Patty with peas and spices.
One of my favorites is the Veg Surprise... I have no idea what's in it :) haha!
Here are a few other menu items that aren't on the other menu:

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this on. It's fun to see things that are the same but different from the US :) Aashini loves McDonald's!

So fascinating! Good to see Aashini eating some good ole fashioned McNuggets! (We're not sure what's in them, either.)

We have a McArabia here! We love it! It's a flatbread sandwich with hamburger patties and Arabic sauce in it. No breakfast here, though. No pork!
Congrats on the new one! You look great!

Mmmm now you're just taunting me. I miss the Veg Surprise so much!
Ok, since "curry" isn't really a South Asian term, I wonder if the McCurry Pan is a hit over there or not?
I agree, McD's are good at intl marketing!

Earlier this week week we went to a canadian McDonald's for breakfast and I tried to order Jeremy a PLAIN biscuit and the lady had no idea what I was talking about.

MCCURRY PAN!!! Man I miss those. I wish McD's would do country exposes here, serve what they serve other places. Might curb some of the criticism.

Buying memory cards is such a time consuming process... You have to search online for prices, filter through which ones are genuine, visit a bunch of shops, compare prices, finally buy your memory, and then constantly pray that the price doesn't fall in the next month or so.

I've been done in by some ridiculous price drops in the past... especially this one time when I bought a Micro SD card for my R4 gaming flash card at what I mistakenly assumed was a steal, only to later see that it had dropped five bucks in a week.

Campa Cola & Exploring :)

Today we had some things to do in the Central part of our city, so while we were there, we decided to take on some adventures :) Adventure #1 - the underground market. This market is pretty crazy. It's actually underground and has electronics & clothes mostly. They sell things pretty cheap, so it's an interesting place to go. Today we got an 64 Gig flash drive/pen drive for about $5. Crazy hunh? Here's Adam and Aashini in one of the stores. They're all REALLY small stores - about 10x10 feet I would guess (but I'm really bad at guessing that sort of stuff :)) We go here a lot to get things, so I guess it's not a new adventure, but an adventure nonetheless. Before the next part of our adventure (the real part of our adventure) we stopped for lunch. Aashini will always eat at McDonalds, so that's where we went :) They just started selling chicken nuggets here at McDonalds, so it's super easy to get her to eat there :) This McDonald's had high chair

Starbucks!

Starbucks opened in our city last night!!  I'm not a huge coffee drinker... but I was excited about the opening!!  (I think I like Starbucks because of all the green! haha!... Aashini and Diya think the mermaid on the logo looks like me... haha! Maybe it's the weird wavy hair :)... not sure :) ) Anyway, we got there and the line was SUPER long!  The wait time was about 45 minutes!!!  There were so many people there!!!  I tried to get a pic of all the people... (that's why this picture is at an annoying angle... I was trying to get it all in in between the columns :))    Here's Aashini doing a jumping picture!!  The girls tried to do a jumping picture :) haha!  haha!  They had a few spills along the way :)  I never got them both jumping :)  Stuff for sale....  OK, one more because I think they are cute :) haha!  People waiting in line :) Some friends that made it inside! :)  We decided not to wait in line... So we'll

Funny Things - Age Appropriate?

Just wondering... but who thought that putting a HUGE Super scary picture right over the playground was a good idea??  hahahaha!!!  My kids were terrified! :) haha!
