 I posted some pictures on Facebook, but thought I'd do a little post on our friend Vijay's Wedding Reception :)   Vijay and Kitling got married in Hong Kong (Kitling is from there), so they had their reception in our city.  This is the happy couple :)  Vijay was full of smiles all night :)  This is Vijay and his brothers and Dad.  This picture cracks me up :)  Dancing fun!  Half-way through she changed into "South Asian Wear" :) She looked great!  Congrats Vijay and Kitling!!

It's holiday season right now which means it's wedding season too :) The other night we went to our friend's son's wedding. It was a Christian wedding, so much different than a Hindu wedding. I love this girl's smile (below). She's newly married. This is the foot of the little girl that sat in front of us :) Here is the bride and her mother. A lot of brides in Christian weddings will wear a white sari and a veil. This bride had some lacy gloves!! At one point in the wedding they had Adam go up front to pray. He took Diya up there with him and as he was praying he kept moving further and further away from the microphone - which means that he was moving Diya closer and closer to it. At one point she grabbed the foamy thing that covers the mic (you can see it in her hands in the pic below if you look closely). All the women laughed (I guess they were looking at her during the prayer time :) haha!) Here's the bride and groom. Here is Diya at the wedding ...

Two of our friends got married while my parents were here. We had never gone to a Christian wedding here before and ended up going to 2 in one week! The first pictures are of my friend Preeti. It was such a fun wedding :) The other wedding we went to was my friend Julianne's wedding. She asked me to take pictures at her wedding and it was so fun to do!! OK, this will be the last of the wedding posts :) After the bride & groom are finished eating, then they split off into separate rooms (they aren't married yet!). This wedding hall had some great rooms that had mats all over the floor and even had AC in the rooms! It was great!!! So the groom and his friends & family went into one room and the bride and her friends & family go into another room. The next ceremony is the last ceremony - the Saat Phere. They can't do this part of the ceremony until the time that the Pundit (Hindu Priest) has previously told them. This one couldn't start until 2:30 am. So... we hung out and waited :) Many of the women slept on the mats on the floors during this time. Here's a pic of Jaya's feet :) She had on 4 toe rings on each foot :) That many toe rings are pretty uncomfortable in the kind of shoes she had on though! She was ready to take these shoes off! This next part is my personal favorite. After the bride & groom finish their individual ceremonies, then they get to see each other. It wasn't always like that. Years ago, the bride didn't see the groom until the last ceremony (Saat Phere - where they are officially considered married - that's in the next post). Most marriages in our country are arranged marriages (I know, I've promised to write all about that - I will, I promise :)). Some brides get to see their husbands for the first time at this part of the wedding! Jaya's was an arranged marriage, but after her Engagement Ceremony she was allowed to date Deepansh during that time. They went on a date about once a month and got to call each other daily. It's a really neat time. Anyway, I'll write more about that when I write about arranged marriages :) So, this next part is when the bride goes to meet the groom.
