Bollywood Style :)

Tonight we went to a play. A friend of mine was in it and invited me, so I wanted to check it out :) We all went... Me, Adam, Aashini, Mom & Dad. I really didn't know what to expect. It was a college drama performance.... well... it was AWESOME! It was like watching a bollywood movie (but shorter).
The play was making a lot of political statements all having to do with helping people who were poor, crippled, with leprosy and people that are persecuted for what they believe. There were tons of singing and dancing numbers. They took really popular bollywood songs and changed the words, so it was super fun. It was cool. Aashini was a champ through the play... she slept thought most of it. At the end they did a question and answer time, and Aashini started making a lot of funny grunty noises. They were really loud and it was really funny! At one point she was so loud that everyone in the theatre looked at us! It was funny!

In the pic below you can see my friend AJ in the yellow :) We had a fun new experience here in the Capital... and as one woman at the theatre said: "It was our daughter's first play" :)

That looks so cool! I know it had to be great entertainment! The only Bollywood we get right now is on You tube. :)

Cool!! I am proud of Aashini for being quiet! That's funny about the grunts.
Well...it should be no surprise that Aashini was noisy at the end... we all know she's gonna be a rockstar one day... gettin' into the Bollywood spirit of things is only the beginning! :)

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

We're BACK! (with Rats!)

We made it back! The flights were so long (especially our 6 hour layover right off the bat) but we made it!! We flew from Tallahassee to Memphis (where the long layover was) and then Memphis to Detroit (see picture below). It was snowing in Detroit! The only snow we saw all the time in the states was at the airpots! haha! We left Detroit about an hour late because they had to De-ice the plane! I'm from the south so I had no idea that they did that... and that it would take so long! haha! We were an hour late coming into Amsterdam (where it was snowing too!) and had to rush to our gate (it was a blur of wooden shoes!)... When we got in the plane we had to wait about 1.5 hours while they de-iced that plane! So we got into the Captial at about 2:00 am!! When we got home we were welcomed to a rat infestation in our bathroom!!! EWWWW!!!! Aparently, if the toilet isn't flushed for a couple months and dries out, then rats can crawl UP the TOILET!!! yes... nice... They wrecked our ba...
