Fun Things!

hey! Thought I'd put up some pics of things that make me laugh :) Most of these pics are from one of our many car trips from the capital city to our city :)
This is a pic from a gas station :) I guess these buckets are for if there is a fire :) They were empty though :) haha They have these inside the movie theatre also :)
This is a common sight on the road... (although this truck is pretty empty)... everyone just piles in and heads to town :)
This is what our "trash trucks" look like :) A guy comes by our house on a rickshaw and takes our trash and puts it in a bag like this on his rickshaw :) Cool hunh?
This pic makes me laugh :) The back of the white car says: "Power Brake - Keep Distance" :) Then you see all the other vehicles up ahead... the coolest is the chicken truck with the guys on top :)

Funny Things 2 - American Fair Edition

We just got back from Roadtrip #8 in Macon, GA. It was an awesome trip!! So, before we head out on the next trip, we went to the North Florida Fair! The fair is always famous for it's fried foods... they fried everything!!... They had fried/breaded zucchini, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onions, green tomatoes, okra, pickles, etc :) I had a lot of it too - YUM! Now, I'd heard of fried Snickers & twinkies (which they had) but they also had FRIED OREOS & PEANUTBUTTER CUPS :) The fair was cool. They had a shark show and a sea lion show... but our favorite was the pig races :) haha!!! It was hilarious!! Aashini was close up to the race until the pigs came - then she crawled up into Adam's lap really fast :) (as seen below) :) Pig races! haha! Cracks me up!

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!
