5 Year Anniversary!

Yesterday (August 10) was our 5th Anniversary! I woke up the moring before to see our Living Room looking like this:
Adam told me not to look in, it was a surprise for our anniversary :) So... last night, I finally got to go inside :) Adam planned a nice and relaxing night for me :) He cooked an awesome dinner! He made Tacos!!! Tacos are a special treat here because to get taco shells, you have to go across town to an import store (and hope that they have them) and pay twice what you would pay in America :) Adam made sour cream (yes, he made it), and made salsa and it was awesome!!! One funny thing was that Adam had never made Tacos before and didn't know you were supposed to cook the shells before you ate them - haha! so our first batch was a little chewy - but WAY awesome! :)
Here's what it looked like inside: It's not a great pic because it was dark... but isn't it cool looking! It was like being in a cool tent! We have an AC that came with the house that is in that corner, but doesn't blow very far, so having it in the tent made it cool inside :)
After we ate, we watched one of my favorite movies - Lilo & Stitch (it came out the summer we got married) :) while I got an awesome foot massage :) Then we ate some really great ice cream! It was fun and relaxing! whoo hoo! :)

Congrats on 5 years!!! Adam did a great job of being a romantic, creative husband. Tacos and air conditioning...doesn't get any better than that!

Aw that is so sweet! Mmm...tacos sound really good. Are you going to keep the tent up so you have a cool place to sit in your living room?

Well, what bad friends are we that we didn't even send Anniversary wishes your way? Adam did an awesome job!! How special!! It looks beautiful and I know you loved those tacos girl!! I was just remembering that time Rahul made me that Valentine's dinner in Willingham and you were trying to keep me out of the apartment until he was done (or before the smoke detector went off)! Ha! Awww... don't we have such sweet guys! Happy belated anniversary to one of the most ROCKIN' couples we know!!! Here's to 5 years of wedded bliss!!

That is sooo sweet! I can't help but think "fire hazard!" with the candles in the tent :) That's what I get for being married to a firefighter, huh?

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

Funny Things - Random :)

Here's a few random funny things ;) One thing that drives a lot of people crazy is honking! There are things that drive me crazy (like people urinating on the sidewalks - yuck!) but thankfully honking is not one of them because we hear it pretty much 24/7. We saw this poster the other day (below) and thought it was funny... BUT not as funny as the Hindi poster. The Hindi poster pretty much said that 'Honking is bad for your health' - haha ! Horns are actually a pretty necessary part of driving here. You don't really look behind you when you drive (most people either don't use their side mirrors, don't have side mirrors, or just have them folded in). When you drive, you just drive forward and you honk at the person in front of you to let them know that you're there - simple right? Sure, it's a little noisy, but you never have to look behind you :) If you go to that company's website it says: "Have patience at the traffic signals, let the signal t...
