Showing posts with the label Everyday Stuff

This is a Trashy Post! :)

Today I thought I'd post about some normal everyday stuff - like TRASH! This is our trash "truck". Six days a week, the trash man comes to our house. He brings up a big trash bag to our door and puts the trash from our building in it and brings it down to his cart. When he gets there, he sorts all of the trash. He puts the plastic in one bag (like you see hanging off the edge), the food scraps are in another, glass in another, etc., then they move on to the next house. They take the recyclable things and recycle them and the rest goes to the dump. I read the other day that our country is the least wasteful country in the world (and America is the most). It's really cool how things get reused and recycled every day here. I also love how they come to our door to get our trash daily - very cool :)

Water Bottles!!

I drink water like a crazy person! (I drink normal amounts, I'm not sick, don't worry!). We're on the edge of hot season right now (about 105+ outside and 85-95 Inside), so we have to drink a lot of water :) I used to LOVE my Nalgene waterbottle until I started reading all that scary stuff about BPA ... and Nalgenes weren't BPA-free, so I abandonded my bottles :(. I tried a lot of new kinds... I got a Klean Kanteen metal bottle which was great, but metal bottles in the South Asian Heat... well, I'm not a fan of really hot water... Anyway, nothing really worked for me! Well, while looking online the other day I saw that they now make Nalgene waterbottles BPA-free, so I wanted to get one. Shipping overseas is a pain, so we were trying to figure out how to get it over here cheaper, when Adam saw that they made a lot of the bottles here. He tracked down the phone number and called their office. They said he could come by and buy some bottles :) So, Adam & Aashini...

Off of Bed Rest!!!

yea!! I'm off of Bed Rest!!! (check out the "baby blog" for more info - http://www.SouthAsiaShefs.blogspot.com ) So I should be back to blogging now :) Here's a pic (below) of me and some friends (when I wasn't feeling very good :)) haha! Here's a pic (below) of a typical "everyday sight"... This guy goes down our street selling these wicker things - very fun :) He does funny things when he's selling to you... if you are looking at the shelves, he stands on it and dumps water on it - to show you how good the quality is :) haha! fun :)
