Clothes Drying & Other Random Things...

Sorry for the lack of posting... This Meniere's Disease has been killer... ugh! Anyway... just though I'd post something :)  I wasn't sure what to post (I've been in bed with vertigo a lot)... so I thought I'd post something that I see daily... This time of year there is quite a bit of humidity in the Capital.  Since we don't have central heating or AC, the humidity is in the house also ... which means that air-drying clothes can be challenging!   The other day Adam got creative and made a "clothes dryer" for us :)    He put all the wet clothes on our clothes drying rack and then covered it with 2 double sheets and pinning it with clothes pins.    Then we put our blower heater under it... and even have a vent on top (this wasn't a good pin job this day... we've gotten better) :)   And there you have it!  A (really ugly) Clothes Dryer! :)  It works awesome!  And just for fun.... Here's one of the markets next t...

Dusty! Dusty! Dusty!

It is super dusty this time a year! We live in a semi-arid part of the country (it's just one step away from desert climate). We usually only get rain 2 times a year, so as you can imagine it's dusty!! This is one of our little balconies. It was swept and mopped at about 8:00 am... this is what it looked like by 2:00 pm!!! In just a matter of hours everything is covered in a blanket of red dust! Which isn't the best when you have to hang your laundry to dry outside :) haha! I have to remember to bring them in as soon as their dry (this time of year is only 15-30 minutes most of the time!!) or else they'll be covered in dust too! This is what happens if I leave out the laundry for about an hour ... It's hard to see in the picture, but do you see that brown line on the shirt? That's where it was hanging over the bar and the dust collected! I can just pick it up and shake it off and it's totally fine... just a bit dusty! haha! I'm so glad I'm n...

Hot Enough to Fry an Egg??

It's pretty hot right now.... but although it's hot, it's much cooler than it is normally this time a year, so for that I'm very greatful :) This time last year it was about 125 - yikes!!! Well, today it was 117, so we thought we would try to fry an egg on our balcony :) Well, it didn't really work... I was sad - I thought for sure it would work :) Oh well... it did look pretty funky though... not sure if I would count some of that as cooked or not :) haha! It sure does look funny :) We leave for Thailand tomorrow (Thursday) - we're sooo excited! It will be a chance to see friends & cool off a little :) The city we're going to first (Chaing Mai) had a high of 86 today! YEAH!!!! We're going on vacation too, so we'll have plenty of pool & beach time :) whoo hoo!!! Plenty of pictures to come!!!

It's Getting HOT...

It's starting to get hot... the heat started up a little later this year, which is nice, but it's coming on strong now!! Every day it's gotten up about one degree hotter than the next - so it won't be long before we get those wonderful 125 degree days :) Luckily our flat is a lot cooler than the one we had in M-town. In M-town, it was so hot in our flat that our toothpaste melted!! I used to put my pajamas in a ziplock in the freezer during the day so that I would have something cool to put on at night when I went to bed :) . OK, so on our friend's blog the other day they made a list, so I thought I'd copy them and do the same: . YOU KNOW IT'S HOT WHEN... - It's 11 pm and your thermometer still reads 95 F (even though the sun went down 4 hours ago). - It’s hotter to be driving in the rickshaw, than to be sitting still in traffic (because the air is so hot it feels like a blow-dryer blowing in your face) - You decide to take a shower to cool off and find...

Hot Hot Hot :)

I was requested by our friend Deanna to post a picture showing just how hot it is... Well, it's really hard to show how hot it is in picture form... and especially since I haven't really been "out and about" outside in a couple of weeks... I didn't really have any pictures that really could convey the heat... BUT there was a great picture in the paper the other day that I thought might just do the job! The guys in the pic below are guys that sell fruit... and in order to beat the heat, they put watermellons on their heads :) It thought that was pretty funny :) It's so hot that when you're riding around in public transportation, it feels like a hair dryer is blowing in your face! It's pretty crazy! It's been over 110 most days, but thankfully (because of the unseasonable rains) it's been in the lower 100's lately :) I have been on bed rest, so I've been watching a bit more TV than normal... I was watching "Cheers" the othe...

OLE' ! !

It hailed today!!! We were in a meeting with a bunch of folks and all of a sudden it started hailing!! BIG pieces of hail! So we all ran outside and had some fun with it! Everyone was trying to grab pieces of hail... It was the most hail I'd ever seen in one place! It was cool!! OK, so if you're wondering why the title of the blog post is "Ole'".... well, that's the Hindi word for hail... It's like a party! whoo hoo!! Happy Ole' Day!
