Jingle Bell RUN!

This past weekend was my favorite Tallahassee event :) We've been gone almost every weekend, but we were planning on being in town for this weekend - it's my favorite! It was the Tallahassee Winter Festival. During the festival is the JINGLE BELL RUN!
The run is really fun! Everyone wears the run shirt, a santa hat (well, most people wear that) and jingle bells on your shoes... this year there was a new addition - fun light up necklaces! It's a 3k, - not a long race, so a lot of people come out to run. There were about 65,000 people at the festival, and a LOT of those people run... not sure how many there were, but there were a lot! There are so many people, that if you stop to tie your shoe, you'll get trampled :) haha! Here's my best attempt at a picture before the race :)
Here's Adam & I before the race with our cool light-up necklaces :)
So I want to know what your favorite Christmas songs are? It would be fun to hear your favorites :) I have 3 favorites...Feliz Navidad (b/c it's just fun!), We Three Kings and What Child is This?... oh... and that N'Sync one (yeah, I just admitted that out loud), and "All I want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey - it's fun! :) haha! So what are your faves?

arnold and joy - I can't believe someone besides my youth group knows 'such a strange way to save the world.' I LOVE that one, somehow I felt like we were the only ones who knew it. you never hear it on the radio or anything (even the christian stations), or if you do it's very rare. I feel like we're now kindred spirits or something! :)

My favorite Christmas songs are O Holy Night (no matter who sings it - in fact I was singing it yesterday to Jyoti and my voice was cracking but I still got goose bumps!) and Labor of Love (on Andrew Peterson's Behold the Lamb of God).

Looks like you guys are having fun. One of the funniest fun runs I heard of was a nude race called the 5k Bun Run. No place to attach jingle bells though:) My fav Christmas songs are The Little Drummer Boy - Jars of Clay version, Elvis singing Here Comes Santa Claus and Amy Grant's Breath of Heaven, cause I was pregnant during 2 Christmas's and Mary's story usually makes me cry. Merry Christmas!

We have tons of songs at Christmas time that we all love to listen too! This year, my kids are all about the Jars of Clay, Love Came Down at Christmas- and of course, Frosty the Snowman.

Loved the picture. Torie and I missed the Winter Festival and the Jingle Bell Run. But we are hoping for a white Christmas.
My favorite Christmas carol is Silent Night played on a guitar. I also like I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day and I have a new favorite after our Christmas program at church - Joy, Joy. Awesome song that tells of the Savior's birht, but the ultimate joy of His dying on the cross to save me, us from our sins JOY!

Dusshera 2012

This year, our neighborhood was quite active for Dusshera.  At one end of our street, one of the major political parties here, set up a Dusshera celebration.   Here are some guys putting the effigies together and filling it full of fireworks! They had quite the political statement for their celebration.  (Basically that expensive water, fuel, electricity, diesel, gas, etc and FDI (bringing in foreign companies like Wal-Mart) are like Raverna (the demon god)... and are the evils of today....)  Here's their set-up at the end of our street.... you can't see it very well, but they had all three effigies there that they burned....  They burned VERY quickly at this one... So quickly that by the time I pulled out my camera, it was already on the ground!!  Our street looked like those CNN videos of rioting cities :) haha!!  There was burning stuff all over the street :)  Many people will get a piece of the leftover wood/bamboo...

Funny Things 2 - American Fair Edition

We just got back from Roadtrip #8 in Macon, GA. It was an awesome trip!! So, before we head out on the next trip, we went to the North Florida Fair! The fair is always famous for it's fried foods... they fried everything!!... They had fried/breaded zucchini, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onions, green tomatoes, okra, pickles, etc :) I had a lot of it too - YUM! Now, I'd heard of fried Snickers & twinkies (which they had) but they also had FRIED OREOS & PEANUTBUTTER CUPS :) The fair was cool. They had a shark show and a sea lion show... but our favorite was the pig races :) haha!!! It was hilarious!! Aashini was close up to the race until the pigs came - then she crawled up into Adam's lap really fast :) (as seen below) :) Pig races! haha! Cracks me up!

In Thailand!

We flew to Bangkok, Thailand today! The flight went well :) Aashini cried a little, but did awesome! We got the bulkhead seat and they even had an extra seat next to us! Aashini really only set in it for a pic or two, but it was fun anyway :) You can see the Buddhist monk in red behind Aashini. The guy that set next to us was a Monk also, he was actually the translator for the Dalai Lama ! Cool hunh? It was funny because he was typing on his laptop the whole flight (and Aashini was grabbing at his robe - haha!) This picture below cracked me up so I had to post it :) When we got here we had to go get a few things at the grocery store :) Aashini went to her first grocery store in the Middle East, but this was her first time getting to ride in a cart!!! She LOVED it!! She was swining her legs, babbling up a storm and looking at everything! Thai people LOVE babies!!! She got a lot of attention today! I have a feeling she's going to get a lot of attention the next coupl...
