Banana Wallah!!!

This is our Banana Wallah. He's the guy that comes by our house selling banans :) He's really cool! One day, a whole bunch of monkeys came to his cart and started stealing his bananas!! He started throwing bricks at them - it was awesome!!
Here he is with his banana cart. The bananas are covered up because it is really hot outside and he doesn't want them to ripen too early :)

When we got bananas yesterday, he gave us this special banana :) It's a double-decker banana :) Hahaha :) It's banana twins!! OK, I thought it was funny :)

Maybe I'm looking at your picture wrong, but is that street paved, clean, and has right angles? Wow! Rocksville, South Asia seems like a planned city! :)

haha :) No, not paved... only hard-packed dirt! And it's only clean b/c the whole city was closed that day... Looks can be deceiving :) haha :)

Who's that dude holding the bananas over his face? I don't like the look of him....maybe it's that silly grin.

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

We're BACK! (with Rats!)

We made it back! The flights were so long (especially our 6 hour layover right off the bat) but we made it!! We flew from Tallahassee to Memphis (where the long layover was) and then Memphis to Detroit (see picture below). It was snowing in Detroit! The only snow we saw all the time in the states was at the airpots! haha! We left Detroit about an hour late because they had to De-ice the plane! I'm from the south so I had no idea that they did that... and that it would take so long! haha! We were an hour late coming into Amsterdam (where it was snowing too!) and had to rush to our gate (it was a blur of wooden shoes!)... When we got in the plane we had to wait about 1.5 hours while they de-iced that plane! So we got into the Captial at about 2:00 am!! When we got home we were welcomed to a rat infestation in our bathroom!!! EWWWW!!!! Aparently, if the toilet isn't flushed for a couple months and dries out, then rats can crawl UP the TOILET!!! yes... nice... They wrecked our ba...
