Birthday Part 1

Today is my birthday and our REALLY awesome friends, The Agarwals celebrated my birthday this morning in Florida :) They are the coolest people ever!! (We miss you guys!!!) The boys decorated a b-day sign for me and made some cool decorations (that you can't see in this pic)... they had special birthday pancakes with candles and singing :) They really made my day :) We're so far away, but it doesn't feel that way :) Thanks for making my birthday so special!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!!
Today we went out to a mall area with some of our friends... it's quite a ways from our house and I haven't been here in almost a year. While we were walking around, we found a "Build-a-Bear" store! I love teddy bears so we just had to make one for Jellybean :) My little buddies Gracey and Faith helped me with my bear... so this bear is super special - it has 3 hearts in it :) (you can see us with the hearts in the pic below)
After we finished making the bear, we had to say the pledge that we would take care and love the bear :) haha! It was funny!
Here's us in front of the store with our bear... I mean, with Jellybean's bear :) On another note, today is not only my birthday, but the begining of a holiday here called Durga Puja - it's a part of a 9 day holiday that is going on right now called Navratri... one of the things they do on this holiday is make lots of food and give it out for free... here are some people wait for food :)
Here's a big line of people waiting for food :)
THere are a lot of all night pujas (w'ship times) going on right now... You can see a pic of some of the stuff going on below... this is a pic of the g0ddess that they w'ship during this time...

Happy Birthday, Andrea! You look great, and it must be so fun to have all these pregger girlfriends sharing the experience together. (I've been able to do that a few times that coincided with my friends as well, and it totally rocks!) We miss you guys and can't wait to meet Jellybean!

Happy Birthday! Looks like you had a fun day! Mine is tomorrow--I didn't know ours were this close. What fun. I don't think we'll be building bears though! We are going to a 2 year old birthday party though with Micah. Fun times.

Happy Birthday!! (again :) I didn't know there was a Build-a-Bear here. Maybe we need to take Hazel and Jellybean there sometime next spring. Of course it will be for our benefit since they won't know what's happening. :)

I hope you had an awesome day! I love that you went to Build A Bear- I thought it would only be a place girls liked, but our boys are intrigued by it! They have a Build A Dino in Miami that Collin adores! It's so cool! What did you guys name the bear for Jellybean?

Hey Happy Birthday! That's awesome that you got Jellybean a Build-A-Bear. We took the girls once, and that bear became Hopers favorite thing in the world! I hope you got one of the "washable" ones because we have to wash hers all the time (there are some pretty gross things that end up on a baby/toddler's favorite toy hahaha!!).

Dusshera 2012

This year, our neighborhood was quite active for Dusshera.  At one end of our street, one of the major political parties here, set up a Dusshera celebration.   Here are some guys putting the effigies together and filling it full of fireworks! They had quite the political statement for their celebration.  (Basically that expensive water, fuel, electricity, diesel, gas, etc and FDI (bringing in foreign companies like Wal-Mart) are like Raverna (the demon god)... and are the evils of today....)  Here's their set-up at the end of our street.... you can't see it very well, but they had all three effigies there that they burned....  They burned VERY quickly at this one... So quickly that by the time I pulled out my camera, it was already on the ground!!  Our street looked like those CNN videos of rioting cities :) haha!!  There was burning stuff all over the street :)  Many people will get a piece of the leftover wood/bamboo...

Funny Things 2 - American Fair Edition

We just got back from Roadtrip #8 in Macon, GA. It was an awesome trip!! So, before we head out on the next trip, we went to the North Florida Fair! The fair is always famous for it's fried foods... they fried everything!!... They had fried/breaded zucchini, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onions, green tomatoes, okra, pickles, etc :) I had a lot of it too - YUM! Now, I'd heard of fried Snickers & twinkies (which they had) but they also had FRIED OREOS & PEANUTBUTTER CUPS :) The fair was cool. They had a shark show and a sea lion show... but our favorite was the pig races :) haha!!! It was hilarious!! Aashini was close up to the race until the pigs came - then she crawled up into Adam's lap really fast :) (as seen below) :) Pig races! haha! Cracks me up!

In Thailand!

We flew to Bangkok, Thailand today! The flight went well :) Aashini cried a little, but did awesome! We got the bulkhead seat and they even had an extra seat next to us! Aashini really only set in it for a pic or two, but it was fun anyway :) You can see the Buddhist monk in red behind Aashini. The guy that set next to us was a Monk also, he was actually the translator for the Dalai Lama ! Cool hunh? It was funny because he was typing on his laptop the whole flight (and Aashini was grabbing at his robe - haha!) This picture below cracked me up so I had to post it :) When we got here we had to go get a few things at the grocery store :) Aashini went to her first grocery store in the Middle East, but this was her first time getting to ride in a cart!!! She LOVED it!! She was swining her legs, babbling up a storm and looking at everything! Thai people LOVE babies!!! She got a lot of attention today! I have a feeling she's going to get a lot of attention the next coupl...
