Back Home

My parents left last night to go back to Tallahassee. Here's a few pics from their last few days here :) I dressed my mom up in a Sari (below) - she thought it was fun :)
Yesterday we went to a famous H'ndu temple here (you can see it in the pic below in the background)... as always there were a bunch of school kids there on a field trip... My parents had fun with the kids (see if you can see my mom in the pic below)...
In the park area of the temple, they had these fun marble slides!! The kids were having a lot of fun going up and down the slides....My dad did too - haha!!
We also too them to a famous Sikh Temple. You have to cover your head when you go there... and since my dad & Adam didn't have head coverings with them, so they got to wear these really cool orange head coverings :)
This Sikh temple is famous for the HUGE amount of people that they feed each day (they said about 10,000)... In the pic below you can see them making the bread.
We had a great time showing my parents around and doing things with them :) They should be home in about 12 hours...

What fun!
The orange coverings are awesome...Siekh wraps don't look quite the same unless you have the hair to go under them...haha! Your mom looks awesome in that sari!!
Glad you guys had fun:)

Wow your mom does look great in the sari! That is hilarious that your dad went down the slide. I bet all those girls went home and told their families about the angrezi family they met that day. It was great to finally meet your parents!!

How fun! I know it was alot of fun sharing all of that with your parents. Know you hated to see them go. I bet they enjoyed seeing that baby too. Your mom is so beautiful.
I'm sad for you that they had to go home. It looks like you guys had a great time. Your Mom looks so cute in her Sari.

From all of your posts, it looks like you all had a great time while your parents were there. :) My parents came a couple weeks ago and Lee's parents are coming in three days! There's not quite as much entertainment here in V-town, but we'll enjoy our time I'm sure. So glad your family came to see you. It's always such a sweet time when our families are with us.

Love the wall hanging behind your mom in a sari. Looks like you all had a great time! Family is so special - especially when they live so far away. Glad the grandparents got to love on little Aashini and her parents.

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

We're BACK! (with Rats!)

We made it back! The flights were so long (especially our 6 hour layover right off the bat) but we made it!! We flew from Tallahassee to Memphis (where the long layover was) and then Memphis to Detroit (see picture below). It was snowing in Detroit! The only snow we saw all the time in the states was at the airpots! haha! We left Detroit about an hour late because they had to De-ice the plane! I'm from the south so I had no idea that they did that... and that it would take so long! haha! We were an hour late coming into Amsterdam (where it was snowing too!) and had to rush to our gate (it was a blur of wooden shoes!)... When we got in the plane we had to wait about 1.5 hours while they de-iced that plane! So we got into the Captial at about 2:00 am!! When we got home we were welcomed to a rat infestation in our bathroom!!! EWWWW!!!! Aparently, if the toilet isn't flushed for a couple months and dries out, then rats can crawl UP the TOILET!!! yes... nice... They wrecked our ba...
