Old City Fun ;)

Today we ventured out to the old part of the city.... First Stop... The Spice Market...
We took auto rickshaws to the metro, took the metro train, then took cycle rickshaws to the spice market. It's a fun place to go. Everyone in hustling and bustling all around - it's fun!
There are a lot of fun people in this market :)
This guy had a good smile :)
Next stop was the Friday M0sque. It's the largest M0sque in our country. It's actually one of the only M0sques that women can actually enter.
We all went up to the top of the Mineret... a LOT of stairs :) It's a lot of fun and you get a great view of the old part of the city!
More to come .... :)

These are awesome! Aashini looks a bit frustrated- ha! Don't they always seem to make funny faces when the camera comes out?! Looks like you guys are having a blast! I can't wait to see more adventures!

Just throw your parents in there- take em straight to the heart of old city. I think that mosque was one of my fave places in the city.

Where will you go next?

Climbing the minaret was one of my favorite things we did while there. Glad you took your parents.

aashini looks cold! is her head covered because of the weather, or because of mosque rules, or both?

Her head is covered because it's cool out and if we don't have it covered, other parents will lecture us :)

so that's a universal trend then. :)

Comic Con 2013

Comic Con 2013 just ended.  It was a fun one this year.  This was the 3rd Annual Comic Con here.  We've been to it all 3 years.  It's getting bigger each year!  I think they grew out of their venue this year...it was soooo crowded!  Here's me imitating "Superkudi" :)  Aashini and me :)  For the Love of Comics...  Some guys that were dressed up... the guy on the left isn't in his full attire... He won the CosPlay contest that day... he won a trip to Dubai to their Comic Con!!  This was my favorite costume of the day... Nyan Cat :)  There were lots of people there!  Me and the girls on the 2nd day :)  I had to have at least one jumping picture :) Our friend Ford made a video of the first day... check it out!

MasterChef Australia!!!

MasterChef Australia is a great show!  When it's on, we get it 5 days a week.  There are TONS of episodes.  The thing that makes it really cool is that the judges and contestants are all so nice!  The contestants don't stab each other in the back and they even help each other!   Anyway, the other night (a couple of weeks ago) some friends of ours were in town and wanted to go to Chili's, so we went over to the mall to eat :)  When we got there we saw that the bookstore had the Judges (and very famous chefs/restaurant owners) inside signing cookbooks!    When we got inside, they had just closed off the line, so we weren't allowed to go through the line and get them to sign a cookbook or get a pic with them :(    So... we stood as close as we could and took pics :) haha!  (and I didn't have my camera, only my phone to take pics)... Here's Gary...    Here's George with my friend Amy :)  And my at...

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!
