He's 30!!!

This weekend Adam turned 30!!! Aashini LOVES birthdays! - even if they aren't hers! She gets so excited about singing and blowing out candles... and cake! Well, I made a strawberry cake... it was a mess! I messed up a lot of things with lack of ingredients and lack of the right sized containers - haha! It was still pretty good though...
I love Aashini's face in this picture :)
She had fun helping blow out the candles :)
That evening our friends Joe & Amberley came over to watch the girls while we went to the mall :) We painted pottery, played some air hockey and some other hockey game & went out to eat :)
It was fun! Happy 30th Birthday Adam!! :)
Please lift up Adam right now - he has dengue now and isn't feeling so good :(

Hope Adam feels better. That's no fun. I didn't realize you guys were a couple years younger than us...I turn 32 next month! Ahh!

Spending you birthday sick, how awful is that. And 30 can be a hard enough birthday for some people, even when they are felling fine ( trust me I know I also past that age marker earlier this year). Hope he is feeling better soon.

I always thought Adam was older than me - guess I was wrong! Keeping him in our thoughts as he is sick!

Adam is a ridiculously good artist...that mug looks AWESOME. Can I have some coffee in that next February? ;)
Hazel loves birthdays too - she talks about them all the time and pretends to bake cakes almost on a daily basis. Yet another reason why our girls should be in the same city to play together and not on different continents. :(
Oh no! Not another one! Tell him to drink drink drink lots of fluids and to rest! (know yall know that, just feel helpless all the way over here:) Hope he gets better soon...they don't call it "bone break fever" for nothing.
Oh, and Anthony and I discussed a couple days ago going and painting pottery on a date...haha!

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

We're BACK! (with Rats!)

We made it back! The flights were so long (especially our 6 hour layover right off the bat) but we made it!! We flew from Tallahassee to Memphis (where the long layover was) and then Memphis to Detroit (see picture below). It was snowing in Detroit! The only snow we saw all the time in the states was at the airpots! haha! We left Detroit about an hour late because they had to De-ice the plane! I'm from the south so I had no idea that they did that... and that it would take so long! haha! We were an hour late coming into Amsterdam (where it was snowing too!) and had to rush to our gate (it was a blur of wooden shoes!)... When we got in the plane we had to wait about 1.5 hours while they de-iced that plane! So we got into the Captial at about 2:00 am!! When we got home we were welcomed to a rat infestation in our bathroom!!! EWWWW!!!! Aparently, if the toilet isn't flushed for a couple months and dries out, then rats can crawl UP the TOILET!!! yes... nice... They wrecked our ba...
