Funny Things - Power Lines

Power Lines are funny here :) I would hate to be an electrician here! It's a mess - at least it looks that way. It's probably just like the traffic here though - when you first look at it, it looks like chaos, but when you "get to know it" you see it actually has order to it :) - Either way, it cracks me up :)
My dad took this pic when he was here. This is something we see all the time, so I never think to take pictures of it :) When you buy some things here they don't always come with a plug. You can get a plug put on it OR you can just plug the wires directly into the socket :) (but you usually have to stick a pencil into the socket first to open up the shutters :))
We saw this the other day :) This was a piece of kid's playground equipment. They strung the electrical wires through it... seems safe hunh?

Haha! That is funny, that picture your dad took still looks normal to me, and it's been almost 2 years now. I will never forget the time sparks just started shooting out of our breaker there.
The first time our 12 year old friend stuck a metal tool into the light socket right before she plugged a fan in I nearly had a heart attack. That was about 4 days after getting overseas.

By the time we left, I was amazed at all the things I myself had stuck in a light socket in order to open the "shutter" :)
Fun post!!!

mmmm... Mark works for the power company and has a strange fascination with power lines (and substations and a whole bunch of other boring/dorky stuff) -- so we come home from most vacations with pictures of power lines. "Look, this is what power lines look like in China! In Africa! In Dubai!"

Sadly, I am not kidding.

ANYWAY I'm pretty sure these are the craziest foreign power lines I've seen. And I emailed him the post. We'll see what he says. :)

haha!

Carrie - You crack me up :)

Emily - haha!

Sharon - I was the same way - crazy! haha! You have to teach your kids about sockets differently here... No Aashini, only grown-ups can stick things in sockets... :)

Erin G - I'd love to hear what he thinks :)

he just replied and said "I absolutely would have taken a picture that. THAT is crazy."

haha, so you have the ultimate vote of approval on power line craziness, right??!

I feel so proud!
OK, maybe I'm just the typical overprotective American Mom, but I'm thinking I wouldn't be so thrilled about my kids playing on an electrically charged playground!

Haha, the playground equipment would make me a little nervous! :-) Maybe they strung those wires there so the kids could just slide down instead of climb ?? :-) It reminds me of that movie, "Outsourced." There was an awesome electrician in that movie!

Campa Cola & Exploring :)

Today we had some things to do in the Central part of our city, so while we were there, we decided to take on some adventures :) Adventure #1 - the underground market. This market is pretty crazy. It's actually underground and has electronics & clothes mostly. They sell things pretty cheap, so it's an interesting place to go. Today we got an 64 Gig flash drive/pen drive for about $5. Crazy hunh? Here's Adam and Aashini in one of the stores. They're all REALLY small stores - about 10x10 feet I would guess (but I'm really bad at guessing that sort of stuff :)) We go here a lot to get things, so I guess it's not a new adventure, but an adventure nonetheless. Before the next part of our adventure (the real part of our adventure) we stopped for lunch. Aashini will always eat at McDonalds, so that's where we went :) They just started selling chicken nuggets here at McDonalds, so it's super easy to get her to eat there :) This McDonald's had high chair

Starbucks!

Starbucks opened in our city last night!!  I'm not a huge coffee drinker... but I was excited about the opening!!  (I think I like Starbucks because of all the green! haha!... Aashini and Diya think the mermaid on the logo looks like me... haha! Maybe it's the weird wavy hair :)... not sure :) ) Anyway, we got there and the line was SUPER long!  The wait time was about 45 minutes!!!  There were so many people there!!!  I tried to get a pic of all the people... (that's why this picture is at an annoying angle... I was trying to get it all in in between the columns :))    Here's Aashini doing a jumping picture!!  The girls tried to do a jumping picture :) haha!  haha!  They had a few spills along the way :)  I never got them both jumping :)  Stuff for sale....  OK, one more because I think they are cute :) haha!  People waiting in line :) Some friends that made it inside! :)  We decided not to wait in line... So we'll

Funny Things - Age Appropriate?

Just wondering... but who thought that putting a HUGE Super scary picture right over the playground was a good idea??  hahahaha!!!  My kids were terrified! :) haha!
