Friends :)

OK, I'm back :) We've been having a lot of computer issues and my computer had to be wiped a couple of times, but hopefully I'm good now :)
A couple of weeks ago school was canceled all over the city because it was too cold (we don't have heaters in the classrooms here :)) We thought it would be a fun day to visit our friend Deepak & his family because their kids were out of school & so were ours :)
Here's Aashini with Daniel & Ashish.
ALL the kids in the neighborhood were out of school too :) There was a bunch of kids to play with :)
Aashini had a lot of fun :)
This is the street Deepak lives on. It was full of activity!!!!
Cute kids :) You can see Daniel on the left :)
Aashini was trying to practice her Hindi :)

Awesome pictures! So what temp is "too cold"?

"too cold" was about 40 :) The buildings and houses here don't have insulation (only bricks and concrete) so it's super cold inside!

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

Funny Things 2 - American Fair Edition

We just got back from Roadtrip #8 in Macon, GA. It was an awesome trip!! So, before we head out on the next trip, we went to the North Florida Fair! The fair is always famous for it's fried foods... they fried everything!!... They had fried/breaded zucchini, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onions, green tomatoes, okra, pickles, etc :) I had a lot of it too - YUM! Now, I'd heard of fried Snickers & twinkies (which they had) but they also had FRIED OREOS & PEANUTBUTTER CUPS :) The fair was cool. They had a shark show and a sea lion show... but our favorite was the pig races :) haha!!! It was hilarious!! Aashini was close up to the race until the pigs came - then she crawled up into Adam's lap really fast :) (as seen below) :) Pig races! haha! Cracks me up!
