So, it's been 3 weeks and his finger just didn't look right, it still hurt, and it just didn't bend or work right anymore... so we went to the doc... This is what Adam's finger looked like: So the doctor said that Adam has "mallet finger"... and sometimes know as "baseball finger"... so Adam likes to call it that - it sounds cooler :) Here's what it looks like (below).... his bone is broken and the ligament isn't attached to the top of his finger anymore... so... in order to fix it they have to put a pin in his finger to hold it in place for about 6 weeks....
Now, because it's considered "surgery" and they have to drill the pin into his finger... they have to book an operating room... and because they have to do that... it's an In-patient thing (not out patient)... so it made for a funny day.... Here's the hospital: So we had to check into the hospital and get a room and everything... we got the super cheap economy room since we would only be there for the day... and we shared it with a bunch of other people (which made it even more entertaining)... We had to get to the hospial at 7:00 am...but he didn't go into surgery until 11:30 am... so we had some time to kill.... I played with my Nintendo DS and read a little... Adam played with his Yo-yo (as seen in the pic below)... the nurses and all the other people in our room thought it was funny (and they may have thought it was a little weird too) :)
The docs also came in and asked some funny questions... (well, with the language barrier they're funny)... one doc came in and asked Adam: "Any teeth that can be removed?" - What? We were very confused with this question... finally we realized she was asking if Adam had any false teeth :) haha! So, after we had been waiting for a while, one of the docs came in - we thought it was time for the surgery - but it wasn't. The guy came in to mark Adam's hand... He pulled out a Sharpie and put a big aarow on his arm... so that they wouldn't operate on the wrong hand... we thought that was pretty funny though because Adam wasn't going to be put to sleep during the surgery... he was going to be awake... haha! oh well :)So it was finally time for Adam to have his surgery... They came to the room and made him lay in a bed to be taken to the OR... we thought that was hilarious since it was just his finger they were operating on :) Here's Adam after the surgery (below) - his arm is gross and orange!:In this pic you can see the pin in Adam's finger... (it's that little black dot on the top of his finger):

Our friends took us to this cool m0sque called the Blue M0sque. It was really neat looking and very clean. I had fun taking pictures inside of it.
These towers are a famous landmark in Malaysia and if you're in KL you just have to go and see them. They're pretty cool looking.
We took a lot of pics around the towers...
These are for our folks! :)
After we took a bunch of pics, it started raining, so we decided it was a good time for lunch. We went inside the mall and found Chili's - we haven't eaten at Chili's in FOREVER! We got bottomless tortilla chips and salsa and really chowed down! (We had regular meal food too, but the tortilla chips were our fave!!)We had to wait a LONG time to get a non-smoking table, but it was worth it! We had an awesome view! The fountain was putting on a show the whole time we ate (and cut off right as we were leaving).
While we were eating, a class of school kids went by outside. It was really funny because they made the kids hold the shoulders of the kid in front of them... so they were tripping like crazy - it was so funny!
Later on that afternoon we went to the Aquarium. It wasn't very big, but it was really neat. They had TONS of sea turtles there.I met some girls at the aquarium and we hung out while we were there. They were fun :) We took this picture in front of these funny mannequins... They were dressed up like mermaids... it was pretty funny! We did a lot of things and had a lot of fun... During a lot of the trip I wasn't feeling amazing (I was having crazy 'round ligament pain' - one of those pregnancy things that only some people get)... so it didn't feel good to walk around tons.... So, besides the fireflies, our favorite thing we did during the week was actually hanging out at Starbucks - haha! We don't have those here in South Asia, and we had one across the street from where we were staying in KL and we'd go a couple of times a day to chill, have a fun drink and play chess :) It made it a fun and relaxing vacation!

The pic below is of George Town. It's an old city that the British used to inhabit. As with pretty much all of Malaysia the population is made up of Malay people, Chinese, and Indian. It's really interesting to see all the cultures mixed together. They have cycle rickshaws that are different from the ones we had in M-town. They are called Tri-shaws and the driver sits on the back and pedals and the passenger is in the front... so we go head-first into on-coming traffic! haha! That was pretty fun! One night, our Tri-shaw driver had to go and make change at the 7-Eleven (I love those!!!) and so Adam hopped on the back of it for a picture :)
In one market area we saw some of the locals playing Mahjong. My mom loves to play this game on the computer, so I thought I would include this pic :)The next two nights we stayed next to the beach on a different part of the island. Here's a pic of the view from our hotel room:
One thing I've learned since being overseas is that if the locals don't do something, then it's probaby not the best idea to do it either (it's not always the case, but in most cases it's ususaly pretty wise).... So we went down to the beach. Before we did that, we ate lunch. While at lunch the tourists at the next table overheard us talking about the beach and said we probably shouldn't get in the water...they said that the jellyfish are really bad.... We said thank you to them and went on to the beach. When we got there we saw that NOBODY was in the water... no locals, no stupid tourists, NOBODY. They were even landing all the paragliders on the sand (and they were landing pretty hard too!)... so we didn't swim :) Our hotel had a great pool though - and that was awesome!!
We were going to take a ferry to another island close by and do some snorkling (that's why Adam bought me that cool underwater camera case)... BUT the ferrys were all full and we couldn't get on. Oh well... :) So since we couldn't go and do that, we decided to rent a car. It's been 2 years since we've driven, so we thought it might be fun! Here's a pic of our car:
In our car we got to explore the island and have a lot of fun (oh, and get pretty lost :)
Adam enjoyed hanging out in this phone booth on the top of the hill... he thought it was cool :)
The Monkeys here in Malaysia are very different than the monkeys here in our part of South Asia - here's a pic... I think they're funny looking (but aren't all monkeys funny looking?) :)
One of the new traditions that Adam and I have started to do is to buy a painting or two in the countries we visit. In the Panang Night Market, we found this guy who paints these cool water color painting of local life here in Malaysia. We bought two from them (one was actually painted by his son)... here he is, holding his painting that we bought :)
We had a lot of fun in Panang... our next stop is Kaula Lumpur (next blog post :))
