Happy Birthday Adam!

So yesterday was Adam's birthday... Now birthday customs are different here... Instead of your friends throwing you a b-day party and bringing you presents, you are supposed to throw them a party and give them presents and sweets :) (they will also give presents to you too)

Adam wrote a funny blog about birthdays here :) Check it out :) http://www.SouthAsiaRolls.blogspot.com

Well, we went out to eat with some friends and then came home... Sitting by our front door was a present from our landlords... You can see it in the picture below:
You can't really grasp this picture by the picture of it... but in person it's pretty funny :) It's really shiny! I like how at the bottom it says "Have a Nice Day!" hahaha it's awesome :)

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

In Thailand!

We flew to Bangkok, Thailand today! The flight went well :) Aashini cried a little, but did awesome! We got the bulkhead seat and they even had an extra seat next to us! Aashini really only set in it for a pic or two, but it was fun anyway :) You can see the Buddhist monk in red behind Aashini. The guy that set next to us was a Monk also, he was actually the translator for the Dalai Lama ! Cool hunh? It was funny because he was typing on his laptop the whole flight (and Aashini was grabbing at his robe - haha!) This picture below cracked me up so I had to post it :) When we got here we had to go get a few things at the grocery store :) Aashini went to her first grocery store in the Middle East, but this was her first time getting to ride in a cart!!! She LOVED it!! She was swining her legs, babbling up a storm and looking at everything! Thai people LOVE babies!!! She got a lot of attention today! I have a feeling she's going to get a lot of attention the next coupl...
