Valentine's Day Fun!!

Here's what we did for Valentine's day!! :)   The day before Valentine's Day, some friends threw a party for the kids :)  Aashini had fun playing with friends and balloons and eating sugar cookies :)
So for Valentine's Day we decided to try out a new restaurant that we hadn't been to before.  It is a Mexican restaurant that actually tastes Mexican!  It was great!  I got my favorite - nachos! and Adam got some yummy (and a little unconventional) Fajitas - they had broccoli and corn!  It was very good :)  In the picture below you can see Aashini making a funny face :)  She just took a sip of some Sweet Lime Soda - it's a little sour :)
Afterwards we went to a historical place we hadn't been to before.  We went to Safdardang's Tomb.  It's described as "the last flicker in the lamp of Mughal Architecture in [our city]."
There wasn't much to it, but the grounds were pretty and it was really fun to look at!
Aashini had a blast running all around and exploring!  She loved looking at the bees!
Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day!!!

ok thst top picture is like the perfect example of why moms should always have a daughter to do fun stuff with. And wear fun clothes with. I almost teared up when I saw it.

glad you had a fun day!
Broccoli and corn fajitas... too funny! Sounds like life here! A friend order "Mexican pizza" recently and it came with corn and GREEN BEANS on it. Since when are "green beans" Mexican? :)

Looks like great fun!
I want to eat Mexican where we live, too. Oh well, I'll just be thankful for Thailand. Hit Sunrise Taco next time you're there. It's much improved.

What fun! Aashini is such a little diva! Loved the cookie post too. Your oven and microwave look just like ours. I'm trying to find some cookie sheets to take back and its about impossible!!

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

Jaya's Engagement!

My good friend Jaya (Mayank's sister that lives in M-town) - just got engaged!  On Sunday, I took the trip to M-town to go to her Engagement Ceremony (or Ring Ceremony).  It was a lot of fun :)!   First Stop - Beauty Parlor!  We walked a little ways down the street to a lady's house.  The beauty parlor was in one of the rooms in her house.  Jaya had already been to her house that morning to get her hair done, but now it was time for the makeup.  This beauty parlor was interesting because it only had 2 light bulbs in the whole room (and they were the energy saver kind that were dimmer than the regular ones), so it wasn't that bright inside the room.   Here's a pic of Jaya in the chair getting her makeup done.   Notice that her hair is crimped.  They use the crimper on people's hair when it's a special occasion - awesome!!! They put a  bindi  on her head and then the lady painted more and made it super fancy. Here's the finished product (after 1.5 hours)!  She...
