Battle of the Bands!!

We went to a 'Battle of the Bands' last night with our friend Mayank. His pharmacy school was having a 4 day celebration called Rx 2007 that ended with a 'Battle of the Bands'. We went to some of the other events too - they did all sorts of skits and things. It was awesome!
They had "bouncers" that took care of crowd control but they called them "THE DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE" - that cracked me up! The discipline committee watched the crowd and if someone stood up for more than a few seconds, then about five of them would run over to the person and tell them to sit... At one point, they kicked all of the guys out of their seats and put the girls in the front on one side... that was pretty funny!
The bands were AWESOME at singing ethnic music, but they were AWEFUL at most of the English songs they sang! It was hilarious! One band tried singing a "Linkin Park" song, and the singer finished the song WAY before the band did... :)
We sat and watched all of the performances for about 5+ hours. I have to say that it was pretty fun! Some of the bands didn't have a bass player and I really wanted to run up there and grab a bass and play along! It was lots of fun :) Whoo hoo! Go Band #2!!

haha! the Disciple Committee sounds hilarious. Do you play the bass? I didn't know that. Cool - the things we get to do here. :)

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

Funny Things 2 - American Fair Edition

We just got back from Roadtrip #8 in Macon, GA. It was an awesome trip!! So, before we head out on the next trip, we went to the North Florida Fair! The fair is always famous for it's fried foods... they fried everything!!... They had fried/breaded zucchini, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Onions, green tomatoes, okra, pickles, etc :) I had a lot of it too - YUM! Now, I'd heard of fried Snickers & twinkies (which they had) but they also had FRIED OREOS & PEANUTBUTTER CUPS :) The fair was cool. They had a shark show and a sea lion show... but our favorite was the pig races :) haha!!! It was hilarious!! Aashini was close up to the race until the pigs came - then she crawled up into Adam's lap really fast :) (as seen below) :) Pig races! haha! Cracks me up!
