Last Day :)

So here's a couple of pics from our last day. K&C had some meetings so we got to take the car and go out exploring :) First we went to the Grand M0sque (pictured in a post below). It was really fancy inside. The chandelier was from Austria, Wooden doors from India, Carpet from Scotland, stained glass from Italy. It was crazy!
Then we went to Toys 'R' Us... we had so much fun running around the store :)
I thought the Barbie's were cool. They all had head coverings. In the pic below, the Barbie on the left comes in a fashionable outfit and has a head covering. She also comes with an Abaya (the black outfit that many people wear). The Barbies on the middle and right are wearing their moring and evening pr outfits. It's so interesting to see Barbies in other countries.
The area of the Middle East we were in was really neat... It was actually really surprising... I had a lot of assumptions about the area but it was definitely different than I thought it would be. First off, I didn't realize how nice that area of the world is. It's super nice! I didn't realized how much money people had - the people are much richer than Americans. There was also a lot of western stuff there! The grocery stores look a lot like the ones in America (just a little smaller). They have tons of western restrauants! BUT... Although they love western things, they still love their roots too. The majority of men still wear their national dress (the white thobe that is sometimes accompanied by the head scarf), still camp and spend time the the desert and many other things. It's a really uniqe and cool place :) We had a great trip!

Those Barbies are awesome! Did you buy one? What a collector item. I keep meaning to buy one of the Barbies here.
That m0sque is incredibly ornate! Wow!
How cool! Caroline would flip if she saw those Barbies. (We are actually watching a Barbie movie at the moment). What a very cool place to visit. The Mosque looks really cool. Happy travels home!
that is so freakin awesome about those barbies. who would have thought!?

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!

Protesting

There's some political stuff going on in our city (and now the country) right now. People are peacefully fighting against corruption. It's been very interesting to follow. Tonight there was some protesting in our neighborhood. Here are some more protesting pictures. There will probably be more protesting to come... we'll see what happens!

Funny Things - Random :)

Here's a few random funny things ;) One thing that drives a lot of people crazy is honking! There are things that drive me crazy (like people urinating on the sidewalks - yuck!) but thankfully honking is not one of them because we hear it pretty much 24/7. We saw this poster the other day (below) and thought it was funny... BUT not as funny as the Hindi poster. The Hindi poster pretty much said that 'Honking is bad for your health' - haha ! Horns are actually a pretty necessary part of driving here. You don't really look behind you when you drive (most people either don't use their side mirrors, don't have side mirrors, or just have them folded in). When you drive, you just drive forward and you honk at the person in front of you to let them know that you're there - simple right? Sure, it's a little noisy, but you never have to look behind you :) If you go to that company's website it says: "Have patience at the traffic signals, let the signal t...
