CWG - Netball!

On Monday we saw Netball :) On TV the sport looked pretty lame, but it was super cheap to go see and it was one of the closest venues to our house, so we figured we try it out. Netball is an interesting sport. It's kind of a mix of basketball and ultimate frisbee played with a volleyball :) haha! You pass the ball (no dribbling) and once you get it you can only take one step and only hold the ball for 3 seconds. Only the designated shooter can shoot too and they usually shoot right under the net. It's pretty funny when you first watch it.
Diya had fun watching it. The stadium was empty when we first got there, but it filled up pretty full by the time we left.
I think this was Aashini's favorite game so far :)
We watched a couple of games but my favorite by far was Malawi vs. South Africa. Malawi was really cool. There was one guy in the stands (probably a parent) that was really rooting for them and was super fun to watch. This is a bad picture, but you can see him - he was fun :)
The game is played in zones, so players that aren't shooters can't cross the white line and get near the net. Some players can't cross other lines. It's interesting.
It's not as aggressive as basketball, but there were some moments when it was.
Malawi was awesome! They won the game! They had amazing sportsmanship. They pulled South Africa in with them at the end and they cheered for each other - it was cool :)
This match we saw was the 5the place play-off, so Malawi won 5th place :) They were so happy and proud and got on the court and started dancing afterwards. It was so fun! Everyone was cheering them on :) They were fun :)
On TV netball doesn't look that interesting, but we had a blast at the game! It was fun to watch! I wish we had gotten more tickets for netball :)

Comic Con 2013

Comic Con 2013 just ended.  It was a fun one this year.  This was the 3rd Annual Comic Con here.  We've been to it all 3 years.  It's getting bigger each year!  I think they grew out of their venue this year...it was soooo crowded!  Here's me imitating "Superkudi" :)  Aashini and me :)  For the Love of Comics...  Some guys that were dressed up... the guy on the left isn't in his full attire... He won the CosPlay contest that day... he won a trip to Dubai to their Comic Con!!  This was my favorite costume of the day... Nyan Cat :)  There were lots of people there!  Me and the girls on the 2nd day :)  I had to have at least one jumping picture :) Our friend Ford made a video of the first day... check it out!

MasterChef Australia!!!

MasterChef Australia is a great show!  When it's on, we get it 5 days a week.  There are TONS of episodes.  The thing that makes it really cool is that the judges and contestants are all so nice!  The contestants don't stab each other in the back and they even help each other!   Anyway, the other night (a couple of weeks ago) some friends of ours were in town and wanted to go to Chili's, so we went over to the mall to eat :)  When we got there we saw that the bookstore had the Judges (and very famous chefs/restaurant owners) inside signing cookbooks!    When we got inside, they had just closed off the line, so we weren't allowed to go through the line and get them to sign a cookbook or get a pic with them :(    So... we stood as close as we could and took pics :) haha!  (and I didn't have my camera, only my phone to take pics)... Here's Gary...    Here's George with my friend Amy :)  And my at...

Cooking!

Cooking is sooo much harder here. THis is how you "puree" vegetables when you don't have a blender or food processor (or power). Some people have those things, but most people don't. This is my friend Gita. She's mashing up some onions. It's a marble slab that's not polished and they use a big rounded rock and just roll/mash! It's cool!!
